Soaring High and loving it!

I'm loving it! N'' No its not McDonalds. This is about the little things in my life that give me immense pleasure and contentment. But also the big things and I would like to share it with the world, I've had the best month ever still 8 days to go for month end and I've done a great job reaching my target. I've pleasantly surprised myself.  The best thing about sales is the moment you get a contract signed you know you've done something right. Its like a baby that you've delivered, with all the pain and hard work you do finally pays off.

Like my father says, "don't run after the money, be honest, work hard with your sincerest efforts, give it the best there is in you, work as a team and you'll see the money will run after you!"

I've always been inspired by my dad for the successful man he is and he's lead a great balanced life. He was a workaholic and always larger than life. Never in my entire life have I heard any negativity from him.

I wish everyday to be more like him and try my best to keep my calm n follow in his footsteps. Looking forward to another great month ahead !!

SO LOST!!

Good Morrning Desi Loge! Okay i hope im not boring you with my talking but no can do, if you know me or if you dont know but have visited my blog then you gotta read it! ;)

I used to tell my husband meetings are "FUN" but not this time...I was telling you about the two scheduled meetings I had. The first meeting went well they had asked us for a proposal and called me twice to come and get the deal signed without further delay. Yeyyy! im going to get this deal...is what im thinking in my mind. I was thrilled but then, it turns out that this desi chain of hotels owned by a desi has been doing a lot of hiring since he's expanding his business and to his team he hired a Brand and Marketing Manager. The irony of it was that I had gone to get a deal instead i'm back to square one. Trying to stay calm and trying to show the enthusiasm of explaining everything from the beginning. Under my skin im boiling out of anger and keeping a fake smile on my face. I could never do that before but im learning each passing day.

Convinced now she asked for another revised proposal, I say "that sounds great, we shall do that for you". Another hope for a deal to happen.

The temperature is 47 degrees and im melting rushing towards my car. Next meeting is in Jebel Ali. Thats like on the way to Abu Dhabi and you would know if you have ever had to visit someone there. Gosh, the employees of the company dont even know the directions to the place where they go everyday...so im lost...im calling my husband to get directions, im calling my office to ask for the map online. Im out of credit and asking my office support to call me in every 5 mins to find out if i have reached the place or not. Then one of my collegue looks up the place in google earth zooming in and guiding me to go left and then right and then take a bridge that goes to the other side ..man...the cars honking on the freeway driving at a speed of 120 - 130 . People are cursing me for sure...God help me please...Im soo stuck ..so i ask a taxi driver the directions and follow his directions...Im in Dubai Motor City on emirates road...nothing i was told lead me the right way...Ive been all over Dubai ...if only i was sight seeing it would have been great.

Finally my husband calls just to check....My Life saver ...! Anyway he gets me to Sheikh Zayed road which is the prime road of Dubai. Im back on track but 10 mins late for the meeting. Im screaming "im not going to drive out anywhere anymore...im not doing anything and not meeting anywhere...im not even driving back home..

Gosh so stressed out....ITs a ....TOTURE..u cannot imagine in your wildest dreams what i had gone through or maybe you can if you ever had to go to jebel ali !! So now i call up the client sir i wont be able to make it as i cant find your office you can go ahead with you next meeting at 4 and maybe we can meet some other day. The client says " no , no that meeting also got cancelled ...LOL n im sure it got cancelled because of that very reason..!

The saying "So close yet so far"...fits to the situation pretty accurately. WOw writing about it made me sick again..should take a break!! YOu guys chillax!!

Desi Meetings

Fixing up a meeting is easy. Finding an office number is the first step towards this big event. Then you keep on trying to get to talk to the concerned person for your requirements. This is a long process, you are lucky if you get to talk to the person you are trying to reach in the first call. Trust me you really are lucky if he/she has the time to listen to you and is not busy "in a meeting" and you dont get a reply that call me after two hours. You try again and he doesnt pick up, you hear the recorder with a beautiful voice "im sorry the person you are trying to reach not available at the moment, Please leave your message after the tone. Consider yourself lucky again if you even get to leave a voice message, other times you hear the beautiful voice again "However the person you are trying to reach has not subscribed to voicemail, your call cannot be completed at the moment". LOL!! What is goin on man..??

Dubai is a busy place to be. You cannot get a hold of anyone and you start to losing it. For a moment you are going to curse your job the person you are trying to reach and even your life. You start thinking is this what you really want to do??

Anyway, your morale is low and next morning you have a meeting with your boss. If he's a clever desi he really knows how to push your buttons. He's going to talk in the most positive most diplomatic and sweet way to get you to do the same job again. He convinces you to do the same routine all over again. The funny part is, this time you look forward on doing the same crap which was made you sick to your stomach.

My Desi Boss is a smooth talker!! I admit! So im still employed still trying my best and taking this as a challenge, trying to prove something to myself as well as others who surround me.

Ok so im flying high, all geared up when I get two scheduled meeting in a day. The feeling is im going to close a deal today!! N' You cannot imagine what happens next ...it couldnt get any worst than this...

Dubai Desi Drive

Welcome! Rise n shine desi Loge! hows da desi drive this weekend? going to a resort, movie night, partying, or just lazying around the house? I am a desi working for a desi company had a really nice desi lunch at B&B which is a great desi restaurant and later had a nice desi getogether at my sister-in-laws place. We saw a desi movie which everyone had seen a million times and still enjoyed laughing together. Played desi style cricket in our apartment lobby and loved every bit of it! The discussions we had were mainly related to our jobs and how much they suck and all concluding that there are a dozen other things/jobs/businesses that can be done if we all start up something together. Dubai, the next big land of opportunities after US, easily accessible aswell.  Dont we all love our Desi Lives our typical desi Dreams ?!!
